Halloween 2012

Jackson and Ben wear costumes at home all. the. time.! They love Halloween because they get to actually wear their costumes in public and everyone else joins in the fun too. :-)

Our church had a pumpkin patch party. It was super fun but super COLD. Like freezing.
Ben decided to wear his Buzz Lightyear costume. You know, the costume he plays outside in everyday and is so worn out. (I'm choosing my battles.)
Jackson wore his old tball uniform and was a baseball player.

see my monkeys on top?

The boys had a "costume wii party" one night.

Ruby loved her 1st Halloween!
pre- trick or treating
Jackson decided to be a race car driver at the last minute.
We only went to a few houses and then camped out in our front yard to pass out candy. The boys thought that was SO FUN.
We (Ryan) carved a Bowser pumpkin.
Ben was ready for bed when a bunch of people started coming through the neigborhood.
A quick change back into his costume and we were good to go!
We went to a Halloween party at our friend's house!
All the kids brought a pumpkin to decorate and paint.

bff

Sweet baby found her brothers' candy!!!

Holidays are so fun with little ones!

cousins

I snapped this the other day when we were making homemade play dough! Sweetest little boys in the whole world!!!
(btw- we used this recipe.)

Uncle Ryan's Birthday

My little bro turned 28 last week! We celebrated at their house with a delicious Italian meal from Lomontes and the most amazing cupcakes made by Kathryn. Such a fun evening! Happy Birthday Ryan!!!

Here's the video the boys sent him earlier that day!

Man Meal

I invited my dad to join us for dinner one evening when my mom was out of town. Since I was feeding a bunch of boys, I decided to make a "man meal". You know- totally unhealthy and totally delicious. I made this and this. YUM! We always love hanging out with Pops!

McKinney Weekend

We went to visit Papa John & Nana at their new old home in McKinney. We love their beautiful home!!!

Nana showed us their booths in the antique mall.

We enjoyed walking around the square!
This is Jackson's scary Halloween face!

I sure do love my cutie pie Ben.
a little Sunday afternoon football and croquet

Papa John took us to the Heard Museum! We had such a fun day there!

Ruby loves her Nana!
Of course we stopped at Buc-ees on the way home!

One Of Those Days...

Last Friday was "one of those days"...you know what I'm talking about! Let's just have a recap of the day, shall we?

6 a.m.- woke up, packed to go out of town (we decided the day before while at the museum that we would go out of town), got kids fed and ready

8- when we planned to leave home

9- when we actually left home

9:15- realized we forgot something/went back home

9:20- left home again

9:30- got on toll road/ realized we didn't have a toll tag b/c we were in ryan's truck because my car is dead

9:45- stopped at einsein bros for bagels and coffee/ they were OUT OF COFFEE. what?!  and out of the bagel Ryan wanted.

10:00- back on the road to Dallas

[3:00- when we were scheduled to meet Ryan's boss at the Westin]

2:45- realized we had to go straight to the Westin/ no time to freshen up

3:00- met Ryan's boss for the first time (she lives in georgia) with baby food on my shirt/ boys wrestled on the floor after being in the car all day without napping. Oh, and Ben laid on the floor when she wanted to get our picture to show her kids (see above pic).

3:30- decided we'd all go outside to the resort pool and let the boys swim. Jackson is an independent swimmer, so I wasn't worried about him. Ben had on his life jacket and typically does well with it. Jackson had gone down the water slide a couple times, so Ben asked if he could go. I told him yes and I would catch him at the bottom. Well when he came down, the current pulled him out in the pool and he started crying. Ryan had to stop talking with his boss to rescue Ben. (Mom Fail.)

4- said goodbye to boss/ headed to Papa John and Nana's house. Stopped at CVS for baby food for the weekend. They only had Gerber bananas. Left CVS and went to grocery store to buy baby food.

5- arrived at Papa John and Nana's!!! woo hoo! toured their beautiful new/old house. Ruby started getting fussy because she was so tired.

6- decided it was time to go out to dinner. Wait- Ben peed in his pants. Changed Ben. Went out to dinner.  Got seated. Ordered food. Food arrived. Ruby pooped. Went to bathroom to change her. No changing table. Laid changing pad on bathroom floor to change her. Took poopy diaper off. Looked in diaper bag for clean diaper. Oops. We used them all. Sent hubby to car to get diapers. Problem solved.

7:30- back at Papa John & Nana's.

Once we got back, everything went great. We had such a fun weekend in Dallas- post coming soon! We sure did have an adventure getting there though!!!

children's museum

Last week we had a family day at the children's museum! We went on a Thursday from around 11-5ish and basically had the place to ourselves. It was great!

We shopped.
We cooked.
We helped some animals.

We painted.
We played in the water.
We learned.
We made slime.
We caught some fish.
We pretended.

We went inside a REAL firetruck!!!
Thursday evenings from 5-8 are free family nights, so it started to get CRAZY busy around 5. (We decided it was time to go!) They had all sorts of fire safety activities and displays that day. On our way out we saw some firemen standing by their firetruck. They were so friendly and we started chatting with them. They even let Jackson and Ben go inside and explore! My boys were so excited!
and this little angel enjoyed the day too! :-)
Family days are my fave!
