SuperDad

Ryan is SUCH a good dad to these boys! Jackson & Ben think their dad is the coolest person in the world. Jackson will tell me his daddy is the biggest, fastest, strongest, etc. many times a day. The highlight of their day is when he gets home from work. Ben literally skips to the door when he hears Ryan's truck pull in. Ryan's "thing" with the boys is bedtime. He reads them books, sings them songs, and puts them to bed every single night.

I try to be a fun mom. I try my best to do "boy" things. I can build castles and crash them down. I can play superheroes. I can race. I can play ball. But...I'm SO thankful Ryan comes home ready to play with these crazy munchkins. As much fun as I try to be, he's just better at boy stuff.

Media

I finished reading The Help. Most of the girls in the book club said they didn't really like it. I, on the other hand, quite enjoyed it! I liked the characters and found it entertaining. Not sure if I'll ever be able to eat a fudge pie again, but I sure could go for a caramel cake!!!

The Duggars: 20 and Counting!

I mentioned this book in my last post, but didn't have a picture. Here it is. I love the Duggars and secretly want to be them. Nothing would make me happier than to have my whole family living together in the middle of nowhere doing everything together.

I'm hooked again on A.I. Call me crazy, but I am loving Steven Tyler as a judge. Excited about this season!

I recorded the Piers Morgan show last night b/c his guest was Joel Osteen. There was some buzz about the show, because Joel directly said homosexuality is a sin. Of course, America did not like that. I was actually really impressed with him and what he had to say. Pleasantly surprised, I guess. There's some clips here:

Random Catch-Up

There was a daddy tomato, a mommy tomato, and a baby tomato. They decided to go on a walk. The baby tomato was not moving fast enough, so the daddy tomato squashed him on the head and said "catch up." (Get it...ketchup...you can thank Ron Clyde for that one!)

Anyways, here goes my random catch-up post!

Papa John & Nana gave Jackson this game for Christmas. He absolutely loves to play it! If you're looking for a fun game for your 3 year old, this is a great one!

This is what my 20 year-I mean month- old likes to play!

The boys had haircut appointments bright and early (9 a.m.) last week, so we stopped by Shipleys on our way home for a treat! Notice Jackson still has half of his donut in hand, and Ben has devoured his and is looking for more!!!

Fam Dinner at Los Tios

He liked his dinner!

This is the end result of Martha's Easiest Spaghetti & Meatballs! Yummy!
P.S.
Dear Mom, what did you expect to happen when you left the ciobar over here??? It might be all gone. Sorry and Thanks! :) (This is the most delicious Italian hot chocolate.)

Do you watch the Duggars? I love them! I finished reading their book and really enjoyed it. I think they have a lot of wisdom and experience (obviously with 19 kids) to share!

Just for my own record keeping, here's what's going on with my boys:

JACKSON: 3.5 years old
enjoys: riding bikes, jumping on his trampoline, cooking, playing with friends, showers (not baths anymore), playing the Wii and iPad, doing projects (school) with mom, eating chick-fil-a, pei wei, thai cottage, pancakes and chocolate milk, going to Pops & GranMartha's house, going to Target but not HEB(b/c he gets to walk at Target, but has to ride in the cart at HEB), storytime and computer games at the library, tackling his brother, and dance parties with his super-coordinated mom.

BEN: 20 months old
enjoys: eating anything, bubble baths, reading books, playing on the "puter", copying his brother, being outside, riding bikes, playing with "babies" (what he calls all kids)- especially baby James, being my helper, prayer time at dinner (he will reach out his hand and say "prayer", bow his head, and then say "amen"), Elmo "momo", Bible class, and -of course- dance parties with his super-coordinated mom!

Lesson Learned: REFRESH

So, I am slowly learning how to use the iPad. Saturday morning I checked my weatherbug app and it said 64 degrees and sunny. I suggested we take the boys and their bikes to the park for playtime and a bike ride since it was such a beautiful day. We kept talking about how cold it was when we were there. Once we were home (3 hours later) I realized I had not refreshed my weatherbug app, and it was actually 41 degrees outside!!! Oh well...we had a cold, but fun morning at the park...lesson learned! :-)

Jackson loves to pretend he is either Bowser (from MarioKart) or Goliath. Sweetest looking "bad guy" EVER.

We love when the fam comes over for lunch! My brother works about 1 mile from here, so it works out well for everyone to meet over here. Jackson is totally focused on his MarioKart game.
We sure enjoyed going out with Wade & Wendi last night! BFF.

I joined the Blush and Bashful Book Club. We are reading The Help, and I'm really enjoying it so far. Come read along too!

Play Day

I love days like today! We have just PLAYED! The fam came over for lunch(I'm the hostess with the mostess- we do it b.y.o.l. style). Now my boys are napping peacefully. It's the simple days like this that make my heart happy. :-)

New Years in Dallas

We've been in Frisco with the Davis crew this week. Leah and JR were in from Maui, so we were all there together!

Ben's excited face...he caught on to opening gifts fast!

We thought he needed a Texas tshirt.

Happy New Year!

Christmas 2010

The boys are having a blast playing with their gifts!
Pops & GranMartha gave Jackson a trampoline! Trampoline = long naps!!!

His fave gift...the iPad! He's better at using it than I am.

Ben at Christmas dinner. My mom made a feast!

GREEN Crocs! So Jackson!

Jackson wanted a "leaf blower just like daddy's" from Santa this year. I have NO IDEA where he came up with that. Santa did not disappoint!

The boys would have been so content to call it a day after finding tennis balls and m&ms in their stockings!

Ben loves his new truck.

My fam came over for Christmas breakfast...french toast, bacon, mini frittatas, and hot chocolate! A great start to the day! Can you see James' t-shirt? It has the leg lamp from A Christmas Story on it!!!

Ben was more excited about the lego bucket than the legos.
